Experimental Investigation for the Phase Change Material Barrier Area Effect on the Thermal Runaway Propagation Prevention of Cell-to-Pack Batteries

Thermal runaway propagation (TRP) is a primary safety issue in lithium-ion battery (LIB) applications, and the use of thermal barrier considered to be promising solution for TRP prevention. However, operating conditions are extremely complicated, such as fast charging, low-temperature heating runaway. To date, there no consistent answer how choose appropriate complicated working environment. In this study, characteristics hydrogel based on sodium polyacrylate explored, impact area investigated through experiments.
